Mr. Steiner is a Senior Patent Attorney with the firm and is involved in all aspects of patent law, including patent procurement and counseling.
Mr. Steiner practices in all areas of patent law, with an emphasis on preparing and prosecuting patents in the electrical and mechanical arts, including computer software and hardware, developing IP strategies and procedures, and IP portfolio management. Mr. Steiner has extensive experience with computer platforms including servers, power supplies, power management, displays, graphics, memory, high speed i/o systems, storage, and plasma lighting.
Mr. Steiner started his IP practice at the Georgetown offices of Foley & Lardner as an Associate working on US and foreign patent procurement. Mr. Steiner then moved in-house as Patent Counsel to Fusion Lighting, a small lighting manufacturing company in Rockville, where he set up their internal patent department. Mr. Steiner then worked at Intel Corporation, starting as a Senior Patent Attorney performing patent prosecution, strategic patenting, and portfolio management, and ending as Group Counsel for Intel’s Patent Business Operations Team.
Prior to his legal career, Mr. Steiner worked as an engineer at Commodore Computers and General Electric where he developed software tools to support integrated circuit and printed circuit board design. Mr. Steiner also founded an engineering service company, Utilitek Systems, providing printed circuit board design services.
